Day Sixteen - The Widow of Nain

What is the greatest loss that you have ever felt?

Luke 7:11-17 covers the story of the widow of Nain who had lost her son. As people were carrying the young boy outside – his mother and loved ones, totally broken - Jesus and his disciples enter the scene, and He is immediately moved with compassion.

Jesus was not afraid to be among the sick, broken, and hurting. We don’t need to be either. The compassion that Jesus had is the same kind of love that compels us to be His hands and feet. We must be willing to place ourselves in environments that require transformation.

And when we live with this compassion, we learn to speak life over situations that seem dead. It is so easy to just accept reality wherever we go, but we see in Jesus an example of how His love is the source of life. Our reality is the embodiment of His love, even when things seem hopeless.

How do we carry the hope of Jesus into our own communities’ pain, lostness, and brokenness?

This journey begins as we receive God’s love personally, allowing His Spirit to shape our hearts, renew our minds, and align our lives with His purpose. In this study, we will discover what it means to become love. Note: This is Part 4 of a 4-part reading plan.
