Suffering can be perplexing. God’s people—and even Jesus himself—have often asked the “Why?” question when facing suffering. Scripture pulls back the curtain to reveal some, though not all, of God’s purposes in permitting suffering to enter our lives. Through it all, we are called to persevere faithfully, resting in the assurance of ultimate victory and eternal reward.

My passion is to see ordinary followers of Jesus grow into natural prayers who talk to God, listen to God, and interact with God at all times, in all places, through all circumstances. To do this, we will all need to learn how to pray with our eyes wide open, our ears wide open, our hearts wide open—our lives wide open! Come spend seven days learning how.

This seven-day devotional will teach you the art of praying through Scripture as you address the subject of anxiety. When we pray Scripture, we ask God to make the words of these ancient Spirit-filled authors true in our hearts and minds; we borrow these powerful words and questions as a means of drawing personally closer to God.

According to the Gallup Poll millions of people around the world have had near-death experiences where they clinically died but modern medicine resuscitated them. Those who glimpsed the afterlife knew there was a border or boundary they could not cross and still return, so their stories should never form our theological framework of eternity. They only got a small glimpse and only Scripture can give the bigger picture. But these testimonies help us answer God’s command to imagine Heaven—to set our minds on the magnificent promises of eternity in a way that changes how we live today. May this devotional help bring more of the peace and joy of Heaven into your life each day this week.
