This reading plan explores the fourth gospel. John wrote the fourth gospel to assure persecuted Jewish believers that Jesus was the fulfillment of God's ancient promises to the Jews; that Jesus really is the Christ, the Son of God. John wanted to make sure that they would remain faithful to Jesus and enjoy abundant life in him.

This plan is an invitation to walk with the disciples during the Passion Week—the days leading up to Jesus’ death—and experience some of His most dramatic teachings. Each day’s readings are arranged in parallel passages of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and are filtered chronologically.

Jesus Christ came to earth for a purpose. His coming was a conscious decision. During the years in which He traveled around the land of Israel and made God's Kingdom known, He also explained why He came to earth. Several times, we read in the Gospels: “I have come to...”. Jesus is the Lord of your life, with his unlimited offer of salvation, connection and joy.  He is the Creator of all things and the Redeemer of the world. But he is also your Savior, your friend and companion; he is your true ladder between earth and heaven. This reading plan offers you the opportunity to meditate about who Jesus really is, and how you can strengthen your connection to him.

"Be still, and know that I am God;" (PSALM 46:10a). Many Christians are familiar with this verse, but do we really understand it? This exhortation applies when we are distracted by our successes, as when we are fearful and disquieted by some troublesome news. We need to learn to quiet ourselves by opening God’s Word and gaining His perspective in both cases.
