The first coming of Jesus Christ produced many different responses from those who heard the news. In this devotional, we will reflect on the five reactions of those who were the first to hear of the arrival of the Messiah and prepare our hearts as we celebrate and remember the first coming of our Lord and Saviour.

Near the end of his life, John, the last living apostle, wrote a Gospel. And it seems some people were distorting it. John writes to believers caught in the aftermath, bringing clarity and commentary on what he wrote. This five-day plan explores various angelic encounters that announced the arrival of the Messiah. We’ll consider Zechariah's doubt, Mary's humility, Joseph's obedience, and the shepherds' exuberance. Angels should not be worshiped, but they model true worship when they sing, “Glory to God in the highest!” This Christmas, marvel with the angels at the Savior born in the city of David who is Christ the Lord.

We often pack our suitcases for travel during the holiday season. While it’s one thing to carry a few bags on a trip, it’s quite another to carry baggage through life. Our baggage becomes a burden that weighs us down and exhausts us. In this Plan, I will share how you can let go of your baggage and find freedom this Christmas.

Christmas can be a difficult time for many people. Looking back over the year, they may see many dreams not fulfilled and many questions unanswered. Others face stress, loneliness and financial struggles. They can't seem to identify with the celebratory Christmas spirit around them that somehow seems to have eluded them.
