These are unprecedented times for those of us who are alive on planet earth at this moment. Historically, we can find hope if we turn to the One who made it all and is Lord of all. What does the Bible say about why these things happen, what is God’s response to it, and what is my hope in life and death?

Natural disasters—such as hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, fires, tornadoes, even pandemics—often strike without warning. The shock, fear and sense of outrage can be overwhelming, leaving you feeling completely helpless and abandoned. In the midst of devastation and loss, be assured that God is with you—loving you and caring for you, “always ready to help in times of trouble” (Psalm 46:1).

None of us are strangers to the brokenness of this life. We’ve all experienced firsthand the pain of loss, illness, and injustice. As we look around this world, it’s easy to feel hopeless, but thank God we are promised more than this world. We are promised heaven. My prayer is that this study would point you to that hope—healing for all creation.

If you are feeling frustrated in midlife, give it to the Lord and experience the freedom of knowing that God has something more for you. There is a reason for the season that you are in. Lean into trusting the Lord, and lean into the relationships that God has placed in your life.
