Knowing God
God reached down and revealed Himself to the people of Israel, His treasured possession, so they would know Him as their God. God delivered the people out of bondage and led them in a cloud by day and in fire by night through the wilderness to the Promised Land because He loved them. He delivered them so they might know He is the faithful God of steadfast love and judgment. This enables them to worship Him as He truly is. He wants and even commands His people to truly know Him.
The Old Testament is the story of these beloved people, privileged to know the one true God. But like Adam and Eve, they rebelled against their Creator. They repeatedly worshiped other gods and forgot their covenant Lord. Just as Adam and Eve were cast out of God’s presence in the Garden, so Israel was exiled from God’s presence in the Promised Land.
Yet, while His people were false, God remained true. He promised a day when His law would be written on the hearts of His people so they could not forget Him. He promised a day when they would all truly know Him. Don’t you want to know this God who wants to know you?
About this Plan
As women in the modern world we often juggle the responsibilities of work and school and home. Sometimes life is overwhelming and sometimes it is just mundane. But the God who sent His Son into the world to rescue sinners gives meaning to both the overwhelming and the mundane. He created us to enjoy knowing Him. In knowing God through the Scriptures we find meaning and joy!
