Kingdom Strengths—Disciple Makers Series #15Sample
A prophet without honor
Thoughts on the message
It is amazing how we do not recognize what God is doing in those close to us. The people of Nazareth just could not get past the Jesus they knew—the son, the brother, the carpenter, the…. As a result, they did not believe that He was more than that.
Are we stuck in seeing Jesus the same way all the time?
When you grow up in church getting to know Jesus one way (or God one way), then it is difficult to get past that to accept other aspects. I know I had this problem for many years. As a result of that, I did not believe God would do things for me. I just could not understand why people said God did these things—I never saw it and had problems believing He could/would.
I challenge you today. As we go thought this book of Matthew, we will see some things about Jesus that go beyond your understanding. They are real. They are true. Let God speak to you about Jesus—something you have never experienced—but we see it happened here. Be bold and ask Jesus to be that to you this week.
Prayer
Father, how can I learn something beyond my understanding? How can I learn about my Creator when You are so much greater than anything I can comprehend? Your promise is that You will reveal Yourself to me. I ask that You not only do that, but that You give me a heart able to understand and receive what You reveal. Without this, I will just ignore it.
Moses wanted to see Your glory; he wanted to know Your ways, and he wanted to know Your name. Father, You answered his requests. I ask for the same. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
