DON'T WORSHIP OTHER GODS

PRAY: Lord, please don't ever let me turn away from You to worship false gods, or a lesser version of You. I never want to bow down to anyone or anything other than You - no idol, no man, no image. Rather, help me to worship You, Lord, for I know it is You who will deliver me from the hand of all of my enemies. Thank You for your protection and strength to keep my eyes only on You. I want to always just worship You and serve you only! And I pray this in the mighty name of Jesus.

REFLECT: Reflect on your spiritual focus. What encroaches on your time with God? Do you get distracted from keeping your eyes on just Jesus? Are there other things or people in your life whom you look up to, maybe to the point of idolizing? How do you spend your time? Who do you serve? Is there a hobby or a passion that takes you away from spending time with God? Be careful, or you will be enticed to turn away from God and worship and serve other gods and bow down to them.

ACT:  Write down the two things or people you are most passionate about. It could be a spouse, a hobby, a sport, a pastor, a spiritual mentor, or even a video game….. After writing them down, then ask the Lord to show you if they have become more important to you than Him. At first you will instinctively say, "Of course not. Nothing is more important than my relationship with God!" But think again and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to you if you are solid with Him or if those things have crept in to begin replacing your priority to seek the Lord. Take the time to be honest with yourself and be confirmed in either your service and faithfulness to Him or your need to readjust your heart and your priorities.
