After His HeartSample

After His Heart
David is known as the one who killed the giant, brave, warrior, poet, musician and ancestor of Jesus, but he can also be remembered as the one who played the fool, cheater and murderer.
The Bible never hides the challenges or flaws of David, but shows us the conduct of a man that, in the midst of his failures, always returned to God. He was strong to face Goliath, but weak to face his own son. Brave for many, but fearful to assume the consequences of his mistakes. He won wars, but many times couldn’t deal with himself.
To David, everything was very intense and his way of loving too much almost caused his ruin, but also made him be the author of the most beautiful psalms. His heart cried out for the one he loved the most. He surrendered, made himself sheep, made himself servant. He had the reign, but understood that the throne wasn’t his.
The young, red headed boy who used to shepherd his father’s flock, was anointed and became king but the honor was never David’s. He, in a human, honest, confusing and brave way surrendered himself to God. He knew that the Lord’s love was better than life itself. In the middle of his afflictions, David found refuge. In the middle of the valleys, he found rest. In the middle of all his mistakes and flaws, he found forgiveness.
And, in the middle of it all, God found a man after His heart.
