RESPONDING TO WHAT GOD HAS DONE FOR YOU 

FAITH AND CHOICE

The direction of our lives is determined to a great extent by the quality of our decisions.  As human beings, we are not robots or puppets that function according to instinct or programming. Your choice – to refuse or to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour – will determine the quality of your life, both in the here-and-now and in eternity. 

YOU MAKE THE CHOICE

This choice is, in effect, your signature in the “Book of Life”. Through your choice you are born into the family of God. This choice is similar to a young woman receiving a marriage proposal from the young man who loves her. Saying ‘yes’ is a step of faith, entrusting her future to the integrity of his character and his love for her. But if she doesn’t say ‘yes’, she will lose out on the joy of a married life with the man of her dreams. The life she really wants begins by her accepting him, taking on a new identity, entering into a whole new family and designing a new destiny together with him. 

If you don’t choose to accept Jesus Christ, you will lose out forever on being His closest companion, a child of God, part of His family.

A NEW BEGINNING

Your new life is accessed (from your side) through a decision and prayer. 

The choice is yours. If you want to take this step of faith and make this choice – to accept Jesus as the Lord and Saviour of your life – pray the following prayer out loud: 

NEW LIFE PRAYER 

Lord, I know that You are real.  Thank You that I can experience You. Father God, I realise that I am so valuable to You that You gave Your Son, Jesus, to die for me. I realise today that I have tried living my life on my own.  I can not and do not want to live like this any longer.

Lord Jesus Christ, I believe now that You are the owner of everything. I accept today the new life that You have given me.  I believe that You have forgiven me and that your grace has restored everything between You and me. So now I confess that today I have become a child of God, just as You promised in Your Word (John 1:12).

I belong to You now, and You belong to me.

I declare that from now on, I will rely on Your Holy Spirit to lead me.

Thank You that I can live forever in You and that You forever live in me!

CAN I BE SURE OF THIS NEW BIRTH?

MOST DEFINITELY, YES!

This assurance is three-fold:

1.   Your new beginning is confirmed by the truth of God’s Word:

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17 

2.  You have the witness of the Holy Spirit confirming it within your heart. 

The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God … Romans 8:16 

3.  It is also a cognitive awareness, since you made a conscious decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. You will know if you have accepted Jesus. Years from now you might not be able to remember the exact date of the occasion, but you will know, without any doubt, that there was a day on which you committed your life to Christ.
