James. A 21-day reading plan by Doxa Deo.Sample

James 1:2-4 (ESV) Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
What is your default response to trials and trying times?
James encourages believers to face their trials with joy! We don’t rejoice in the trouble itself, but in what we know God is doing. You might be tempted to give in to sin or to grumbling, resentment or even grim endurance.
However, we can rejoice because we know that God has a purpose in what is happening. He is transforming us. The New Testament constantly warns us that we shall not be able to escape the tribulations of this world. If we persevere in our trials, we see benefits like the proving of our faith, opportunity to produce steadfastness within us, and spiritual maturity.
Reflection:
What trials are you facing right now?
How can you change your perspective and respond with joy?
