Journey WitnessesSample
Acts is in large part a history book detailing three specific transitions: A geographic transition from Jerusalem to the rest of the world, a theological transition from a Jewish understanding of the gospel to a universal understanding, as well as a cultural shift from Jew to Gentile. The Jerusalem Council in Acts Chapter 15 is the culmination of all these transitions.
It is here that we witness Peter, Paul, Barnabas, and many other key leaders in the early church come together to sort through precisely what it means to believe in Jesus, what constitutes salvation, and what is required of those—from all cultures—who call themselves Christians.
The mission of being a disciple and a witness is proclaiming the core of the gospel message as it has always been. It transcends time, space, and cultures. Our goal is to become like Peter and Paul—masters of understanding their audience and finding ways to speak truth in a way that does not compromise the message but connects to the hearts of people.
