Becoming In Faith

DAY 2 OF 4

Even if you know your identity in Christ, it can still be a battle. Some of you may even feel like, “I already know my identity in Christ. I don’t really need to hear this at all.” But I want you to know that it requires a daily dose of reminding yourself of who you are and hearing what the father has to say over you.

I want to break down for you the stages of becoming. The stages of becoming are: unbecoming (lost and without hope), becoming (the process has begun, but it’s merely head knowledge, but we don’t really accept or believe it), and finally to have become - the season where compassion and love for others abounds because you are so loved in Christ, you no longer need others to make you feel loved. When you understand the stage that you are in, it can help you grow into the next phase more quickly!

The first stage is completely unbecoming. During the first half of my life, I was unbecoming. I was lost, I didn’t know Christ, and I had no truth in me at all. Even after I was a Christian, I had no truth. I was still very unbecoming.

I think believers can be unbecoming. They basically just raised their hand, went to the altar, and they said they received Christ even though they have not done anything to renew or change their mind or their ways. They are unbecoming. These are people who are desperate to be loved. They are saying, “Satisfy me. Help me not become lonely. Take care of my needs!” They are like a cup with a hole in the bottom asking to be filled up, but everything just drains down the bottom. What you do today will not last until tomorrow. They need to be filled up every single day.

In this unbecoming stage, the voice of the stranger is probably the loudest, most known voice. Our ears may not yet be tuned into the voice of the shepherd - Jesus. Trust me, He’s already speaking. Once we begin to have intimacy in Christ and let the Bible cut us deep, we start becoming who God has already said we are and start hearing his voice directing and loving us!

About this Plan

Becoming In Faith

In this reading plan, we are going to talk about the three stages to becoming like Christ. First, Unbecoming - which we are all unbecoming before Christ; The Becoming Stage - as we are learning to take our thoughts captive; and finally, the I Have Become who God says I am. Do you want to love others well? Then let’s become who God already says we are!
