Defining Faith: 3 Easy Steps To Unlocking Its MeaningSample

In this 3-day devotional plan, we are going to accomplish one thing: reach a more concrete definition of the word “faith.”

The Bible tells us that “without faith it is impossible to please God." and it is “through faith” that we are saved and obtain the gift God has for us.

If you grew up in church, you probably heard dozens of sermons on the topic of faith.

My job, then, is not to convince you of how important it is—or to even show you what is possible once you have it (Elisha is a great place to start if you are curious!).

All of our energy is going to go towards unraveling the mystery of this word, because if we can know what it really is, we can master how to really use it!

Today we are going to begin with the foundation that is given to us in Hebrews 11. We are told that “faith” is two things:

• Confidence in what we hope for
• Assurance about what we do not see

Faith is about the WHAT. It can only be as reliable and powerful and life-changing as its object or source.
