‘Therefore’ is an incredibly important word in the Bible. When you find a 'therefore,' find out what it is there for. Go back and read the previous verses because that is where you will find the key. In Ephesians 6:12, the ‘therefore put on the full armor of God’, is because we battle not against flesh and blood, as found in verse 12. We are called to put on all Christ won for us on the cross so that we can stand our ground. When the enemy came against Jesus in the wilderness he didn’t battle with him with his emotion or his own words, but he spoke the Word of God. Like Jesus, it is our responsibility to stand in the victory that has been won, to stand on the promises of the Bible over our emotions, to stand on the declarations of faith over our circumstances, to believe the Word over what we see with our eyes. That is how we war, that is how we stand!
