When You're in Over Your HeadSample
Day 5 – I said Yes – And God Helped!
After I asked God whether or not I should spend this large amount of money, amazing things started happening.
Every day I read a scripture, or I had a conversation with someone, or I listened to a sermon—that all pointed to a “yes” answer from God. The Lord just kept sending things across my path that let me know I could do it.
One sermon I listened to was about believing God for the impossible. One friend I talked with told me an amazing story of God’s provision in her own life. When I was reading the Bible I saw Peter walking on water and I felt like the Lord said, “Karen, you can’t walk on water if you don’t get out of the boat.”
Isn’t that the truth? I knew He was telling me by the inward witness: “You won’t get to see what happens if you don’t take the first step. Come on, do you have faith or not? Get out of the boat!” And faith rose up inside me.
Even though I felt like I was in over my head (I imagine Peter felt like that too as he stepped out of the boat!) faith came from hearing God’s Word.
If I hadn’t been reading my Bible, I wouldn’t have seen that story when I needed it, and God wouldn’t have whispered His challenge to me. If I hadn’t gone to church, I wouldn’t have heard that sermon that inspired me. When we’re seeking His direction, especially if a deadline is involved, we must put ourselves in a position to hear His voice.
So I said yes to spending the money, and started paying that big chunk of cash every month. And do you know what? Every month the bill got paid! Extra money came in from unexpected sources every month, and I had enough to pay the bill every time.
That’s just one story of seeking God, listening for His voice, and receiving His supernatural help. When you feel in over your head, stop and ask for God’s help! Keep saying and believing that you receive it. Then do what He says. Keep yourself in position by reading the Word and listening to other faith-filled people. It has worked in my life and it can work in yours.
