Wisdom Of The Teacher For College Students, Ch. 8Sample

The search for meaning in life is a search that is without an end. Although one searches day and night, it is impossible to know. It appears that we are just not wired to comprehend it.
This is the conclusion that the Teacher comes to in these verses. Man is unable to discover the work that is done under the sun. Perhaps that is why those who are in search of themselves so rarely find themselves in the searching.
These verses might also be reflected in the classic rock song Carry On My Wayward Son by the group “Kansas”, that says “and if I claim to be a wise man, it surely means that I don’t know.” True wisdom seems to be marked by a constant reminder that we don’t really know as much as we think we do. So the search to know more continues each day!

About this Plan

The study of Ecclesiastes begins the final quarter with some unsettling teachings. Can you really understand the meaning of life for humans? Do we really get what we deserve? These and other questions are explored in our five day journey in this brief chapter.
