I WILL STAND STRONG 30 DAY CHALLENGESample
The Beauty of Accountability
The power of sin is in secrecy.
Which is right where the devil wants us to be—alone and without accountability.
But the Christian life isn’t meant to be walked alone. We are to be held accountable in one way or another. So, the Bible calls us to “encourage one another and build each other up” (1 Thessalonians 5:11); and to “stir up love and good deeds” (Hebrews 10:24). The beauty of this kind of accountability is that it is for our good to be connected to others!
Years ago, the winning weight for the horse-pull at the Calgary Stampede was roughly 8,000 lbs. The second-place horse pulled 7,000 lbs. After the event, the two owners decided to see what their horses would pull if they worked together. And to their amazement, they pulled a combined 30,000 lbs.!
This is the power of sharing each other’s burdens. This is the power of accountability!
It’s important we seek accountability with other believers and never isolate ourselves—because the power of sin is in secrecy.
Proverbs 18:1 says, “He who separates himself seeks his own desire, He quarrels against all sound wisdom.”
So, find a friend and a mentor today. Be open and vulnerable as God leads. And help share each other’s burdens as Christ commands.
