         <div class="label">20</div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">The Thousand Years</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v1" data-usfm="REV.20.1"><span class="label">1</span><span class="content">And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. </span></span><span class="verse v2" data-usfm="REV.20.2"><span class="label">2</span><span class="content">He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. </span></span><span class="verse v3" data-usfm="REV.20.3"><span class="label">3</span><span class="content">He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. This is the first resurrection. </span></span><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="REV.20.6"><span class="label">6</span><span class="content">Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.</span></span></div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">The Judgment of Satan</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="REV.20.6"></span><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="REV.20.7"><span class="label">7</span><span class="content">When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison </span></span><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="REV.20.8"><span class="label">8</span><span class="content">and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth&#8212;Gog and Magog&#8212;and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. </span></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="REV.20.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God&#8217;s people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="REV.20.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="content">And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.</span></span></div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">The Judgment of the Dead</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="REV.20.10"></span><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="REV.20.11"><span class="label">11</span><span class="content">Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. </span></span><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="REV.20.12"><span class="label">12</span><span class="content">And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. </span></span><span class="verse v13" data-usfm="REV.20.13"><span class="label">13</span><span class="content">The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. </span></span><span class="verse v14" data-usfm="REV.20.14"><span class="label">14</span><span class="content">Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. Then Jerusalem will be called the Faithful City, and the mountain of the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> Almighty will be called the Holy Mountain.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v3" data-usfm="ZEC.8.3"></span><span class="verse v4" data-usfm="ZEC.8.4"><span class="label">4</span><span class="content">This is what the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> Almighty says: &#8220;Once again men and women of ripe old age will sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each of them with cane in hand because of their age. </span></span><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="ZEC.8.5"><span class="label">5</span><span class="content">The city streets will be filled with boys and girls playing there.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="ZEC.8.5"></span><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="ZEC.8.6"><span class="label">6</span><span class="content">This is what the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> Almighty says: &#8220;It may seem marvelous to the remnant of this people at that time, but will it seem marvelous to me?&#8221; declares the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> Almighty.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="ZEC.8.6"></span><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="ZEC.8.7"><span class="label">7</span><span class="content">This is what the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> Almighty says: &#8220;I will save my people from the countries of the east and the west. </span></span><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="ZEC.8.8"><span class="label">8</span><span class="content">I will bring them back to live in Jerusalem; they will be my people, and I will be faithful and righteous to them as their God.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="ZEC.8.8"></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="ZEC.8.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">This is what the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> Almighty says: &#8220;Now hear these words, &#8216;Let your hands be strong so that the temple may be built.&#8217; This is also what the prophets said who were present when the foundation was laid for the house of the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> Almighty. </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="ZEC.8.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="content">Before that time there were no wages for people or hire for animals. No one could go about their business safely because of their enemies, since I had turned everyone against their neighbor. </span></span><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="ZEC.8.11"><span class="label">11</span><span class="content">But now I will not deal with the remnant of this people as I did in the past,&#8221; declares the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> Almighty.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="ZEC.8.11"></span><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="ZEC.8.12"><span class="label">12</span><span class="content">&#8220;The seed will grow well, the vine will yield its fruit, the ground will produce its crops, and the heavens will drop their dew. I will give all these things as an inheritance to the remnant of this people. </span></span><span class="verse v13" data-usfm="ZEC.8.13"><span class="label">13</span><span class="content">Just as you, Judah and Israel, have been a curse</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class="body"><span class="fr">8:13 </span><span class="ft">That is, your name has been used in cursing (see <span class="ref" usfm="JER.29.22">Jer. 29:22</span>); or, you have been regarded as under a curse.</span></span></span><span class="content"> among the nations, so I will save you, and you will be a blessing.</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class="body"><span class="fr">8:13 </span><span class="ft">Or </span><span class="fqa">and your name will be used in blessings </span><span class="ft">(see <span class="ref" usfm="GEN.48.20">Gen. 48:20</span>); or </span><span class="fqa">and you will be seen as blessed</span></span></span><span class="content"> Do not be afraid, but let your hands be strong.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v13" data-usfm="ZEC.8.13"></span><span class="verse v14" data-usfm="ZEC.8.14"><span class="label">14</span><span class="content">This is what the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> Almighty says: &#8220;Just as I had determined to bring disaster on you and showed no pity when your ancestors angered me,&#8221; says the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> Almighty, </span></span><span class="verse v15" data-usfm="ZEC.8.15"><span class="label">15</span><span class="content">&#8220;so now I have determined to do good again to Jerusalem and Judah. Do not be afraid. </span></span><span class="verse v16" data-usfm="ZEC.8.16"><span class="label">16</span><span class="content">These are the things you are to do: Speak the truth to each other, and render true and sound judgment in your courts; </span></span><span class="verse v17" data-usfm="ZEC.8.17"><span class="label">17</span><span class="content">do not plot evil against each other, and do not love to swear falsely. class="verse v6" data-usfm="ZEC.9.6"><span class="content">and I will put an end to the pride of the Philistines.</span></span></div><div class="q1"><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="ZEC.9.6"></span><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="ZEC.9.7"><span class="label">7</span><span class="content">I will take the blood from their mouths,</span></span></div><div class="q2"><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="ZEC.9.7"><span class="content">the forbidden food from between their teeth.</span></span></div><div class="q1"><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="ZEC.9.7"><span class="content">Those who are left will belong to our God</span></span></div><div class="q2"><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="ZEC.9.7"><span class="content">and become a clan in Judah,</span></span></div><div class="q2"><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="ZEC.9.7"><span class="content">and Ekron will be like the Jebusites.</span></span></div><div class="q1"><span data-usfm="ZEC.9.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!</span></span></div><div class="q2"><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="ZEC.9.9"><span class="content">Shout, Daughter Jerusalem!</span></span></div><div class="q1"><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="ZEC.9.9"><span class="content">See, your king comes to you,</span></span></div><div thrive,</span></span></div><div class="q2"><span class="verse v17" data-usfm="ZEC.9.17"><span class="content">and new wine the young women.</span></span></div>
