Leading Like Nehemiah
Step 3 | Leverage the Right Leaders
In the past two days, we’ve discussed Nehemiah’s initial steps of prayer and vision casting. After he cast a compelling vision for the people, his third step was to “Leverage the Right Leaders.”
In Nehemiah’s day, the high priest was very powerful. If the high priest didn’t participate, few would follow. Along with the high priest, the local business leaders were also very influential.
Nehemiah, with God’s help, managed to not only pull in the business leaders to manage certain sections of the wall, but he somehow convinced Eliashib, the high priest, to lead the charge!
In Nehemiah 3:1, we read about the first builders, “Eliashib the high priest and his fellow priests went to work and rebuilt the Sheep Gate.”
If you want a strong team that gets results, recruit and leverage people of influence.
