Daily Bible Reading — Sustained By God’s Word Of Forgiveness & MercySample
August 12
Introduction
Locusts often come in swarms and cause great damage to crops, causing severe food shortages. In today’s reading, locusts settle over the entire country. It is the eighth plague to strike the Egyptians. The king seeks forgiveness from Moses and asks Moses to remove the plague.
Today’s Scripture: Exodus 10:9b
[Moses said:] “We will take our sons and daughters, our sheep and goats, and our cattle, because we must hold a festival to honor the LORD.”
Today’s Reading
Exodus 10:1-20
Reflect
What do the king’s officials tell him (verse 7)? Why does the king tell Moses that only the men will be allowed to worship the LORD (verses 10 and 11)? Reread verses 16 and 17. What does the king ask? What are your thoughts about his confession and his request for forgiveness?
Pray
Holy God, with a humble heart I repent of my sins and seek your forgiveness. Trusting in your mercy and grace, I ask that you remove the penalty that I deserve and wipe away the guilt associated with my sin. Amen.
Prayer Concern
Parts of the world experiencing famine
Tomorrow’s Reading
Exodus 10:21-29: Darkness covers the land of Egypt.
