Impacting Your WorldSample

THE WORLD OF THE GENEROUS
God’s heart is for us to be generous! “The world of the generous gets larger and larger”, Proverbs says. But what if we can’t afford to? Typically, we limit generosity to dollars and cents, so giving becomes accessible only when there is extra to spare.
But generosity begins in the heart with a decision to open ourselves to others. So we can open our house for a meal. Open our car door to offer a ride. Open our schedules to someone. Or open our minds to pay a compliment. The return will always be reciprocating hearts, new connections and new opportunities to grow. There’s a corollary to the Proverb too – while the world of the generous grows, the world of the stingy, it says, gets smaller. Giving is the most challenging when we don’t feel like it – when there’s not enough in the cupboard for ourselves. Stinginess means smallness. It shuts down relationships and limits our potential. At the point we feel like shutting down, the best we can do is share what’s inside. Our world will be larger for it.
