How are we Saved?
We all fall short of the standard of the goodness of God. We could never do enough good to pay the full amount for our sin. Being "a good person" is irrelevant when it comes to entering eternal life. The standard is just too high.
God's Love for us is so great; He made a way for us to enter His Kingdom and have eternal life freely available. God wants us to experience life in its fullness, but there's only one way to begin this journey: by receiving salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. Salvation is God's gift to us; we cannot do anything to earn or deserve it. We are "saved" from sin and its consequences by our salvation.
Romans 10:9 shows us that salvation is surrendering, which is essentially saying, "Jesus, I completely give my life to You." When you declare that Jesus is Lord of your life, it means that you give Him ownership or lordship of your life, everything you are, and everything you have.
The way we surrender our lives to Christ is typically through a prayer of a heartfelt decision to surrender your life to Jesus. If you want to surrender your life to Jesus, you can do that right now!
Here is an example of a prayer you can pray...
Jesus, I know I'm a sinner, and I need your forgiveness. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and rose from the grave. I confess that You are the Lord of my life, and I surrender myself to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
