Divine Intentions: God’s Plan For Your FutureSample
GOD THOUGHTS
The Holy Spirit knows the thoughts of God because the Holy Spirit is God. He knows our thoughts because we were created by God and for God. The Holy Spirit is always trying to build a bridge between God’s thoughts and our thoughts. He longs for us to know what God is thinking.
Thinking is a more spiritual activity than most people realize. With the Holy Spirit’s help, your thoughts are a high-level way of communicating with God.
If you have asked Jesus to be your Savior, then His Holy Spirit lives inside you. Because of this, your thoughts are no longer ruled by the world’s spirit. God is thinking about you all the time. His thoughts are not thoughts of condemnation; they are thoughts of love and grace. He has dreams and visions concerning you.
Have you ever thought about the connection between the heart and the mind? Solomon did. In fact, he wrote that as a man “thinks in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7 nkjv). The idea that the heart can think is a big truth with massive ramifications. If you have a thinking problem, then you also have a heart issue. The mind and the heart are linked together.
Jesus took this concept further when He said, “Out of the heart proceed evil thoughts” (Matthew 15:19 nkjv). A person cannot deal with the evil coming out of their mind without addressing the condition of their heart. Mentality is influenced by spirituality. The phrase “so is he” in Proverbs 23:7 is bursting with implication. Thinking is not only a dual event of the heart and mind, it’s also a defining act of the soul. Your thinking heart ultimately forms your identity.
If we want to be who God wants us to be, it is essential that we think from our hearts how God wants us to think. We need to exchange our thoughts for God’s thoughts. His way of thinking is better than ours.
In Isaiah 55:8–9, God is provoking our curiosity about His heavenly thinking and divine ways. He loves it when we wonder what He’s thinking. He loves it when we set our hearts on His thoughts. He knows if we think more like Him, we will be more like Him. If your thinking changes, everything else can change, too. Thinking begets being.
