5 Values Of A Life-giving LeaderSample

The life-giving leader chooses an attitude of gratitude. In today’s passage, Luke 1:46, we find Mary’s response to a seemingly difficult situation. Just verses before, Mary is told that as a virgin she will conceive not just a child, but the very Son of God (Luke 1:35).
While this news is truly amazing, it would have come as a shock to Mary. Culturally, she would have faced intense scrutiny, judgment, and even the possibility of death. This was not the plan she had for her life, yet she recognized God was using her to play a role much bigger than herself. She couldn’t help but declare, “My soul glorifies the Lord”! Mary couldn’t believe that God had chosen her and took on an attitude of gratitude.
In life, we are guaranteed to face amazing highs and lows. While we cannot control what happens to us, we can control our response. Just as Mary glorified God for being used by him in an unexpected way, we too can give thanks to God for every situation we face.
What life experiences have you had that God has used for good? How can you face the challenges of today with gratitude? Today, see every situation through the filter of, “I can’t believe I get to do this! Thank you, God for choosing me!”
