Reflections On The Gospel Of John

DAY 17 OF 21

FATHER MAKE US ONE The field of mathematics has a wide variety of application. However, the type of math used by an individual largely depends on his or her career field, profession and/or occupation (i.e., algebra & trigonometry – scientists, physicists; geometry – builders, architects, etc.). And though many of us may not like math, it is an essential part of our everyday life. Therefore, a basic knowledge of math is essential to function effectively in our world today.

Although God’s method of math may be a bit unconventional, the same theory applies in the body of Christ because when numbers come together, a product is always produced. For instance, look at GEN.2.24 which states “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become [ONE] flesh;” or, 1JN.5.7, “For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are [ONE].”

Based on the preceding verses of Scripture, it is clear to see that normal principles of math do not apply here. In Gen. 2:24, 1 + 1 = 1, and in 1 Jn. 5:7, 1 + 1 + 1 = 1; how can this be?

Simple, in Christ each individual member comes together to form one, this is representative of unity in the spirit and body (the Body of Christ—The Church). Though there may be many parts (individuals) in Christ, there is still just one Body (1CO.12.12-14).

Unity within the body of Christ was and still is the goal; this desire could even be seen as Jesus prayed in John chapter seventeen. Jesus said, “I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you” (JHN. 17.21-23, New Living Translation).

When the Body is functioning properly and is fitly joined together for one unified purpose, we (the Church) can do serious damage to the enemy and the kingdom of darkness.

Just as a basic knowledge of math in society is essential; a basic knowledge of Kingdom mathematics and principles is what it takes for us as believers to truly make a difference in the world today. UNITY PRODUCES VICTORY AND BRINGS GOD GLORY!
