Asleep At The Wheel; Taking Back Control Of Your LifeSample
You’ve come a long way on your journey toward full awareness and regaining control of the wheel of your life. We’ve discussed purpose, facing and overcoming adversity, self-love, choices, and even the desires of our heart, but what is it all for? Why does any of this matter? Why are you even alive and here on this Earth? What are you living for?
Theologian John Piper helps us answer that question. He once wrote: “The point of being created in the image of God is that human beings are destined to display God. That’s what images do.” They reflect a beautiful picture of the original they were modeled after. In our case, we were created to reflect the image of God to others and to be an expression of His glory! God’s purpose in creation, therefore, was to fill the Earth with His own glory. Image bearers, in essence, are glory spreaders.
With this in mind, I ask again, what are you living for? What are you passionate about? What activity makes your heart sing? What are you doing when you feel most alive and present in this life? Does that activity bring God glory? Does it draw people around you closer to Christ or push them further away? Spend some time truly reflecting on your answers. It’s time to embark on a lifelong journey of self-discovery. Maybe you weren’t aware before today, but your gifts and passions can absolutely bring glory to God even if they’re not connected to religion or spirituality in any obvious way. You can truly be a reflection of God to the world and shine His glory with your gifts and actions as long as you stay connected to Him and His purpose for your life.
Following are a few questions to ask yourself on this subject. Answering them honestly will tell you what you’re truly living your life for. Do your gifts and passions bring glory to God or to yourself? Do your actions serve others around you or yourself? Is your passion and vision plan for your life bigger than yourself? Will it impact people even after God calls you home? Are you shining God’s glory and His image to the world?
