The Power of Forgiveness: Video DevotionsSample

The Power To Forgive
You and I and every human who’s ever lived have been hurt by someone else. That’s just the nature of humanity. And the only way to stop that hurt from festering into something even more damaging is to forgive the one who hurt you. When you’re wrestling with hurt and trying to forgive, there’s only one example to follow.
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
- What are your initial thoughts on the question of forgiveness? Do you believe it’s simple or difficult? Is it even necessary?
- Have there been hurts in your life that you’ve struggled to move on from? Or people whom you’ve struggled to forgive? Ask God to show you exactly what it is that’s held you back from forgiveness.
- Spend some time today meditating on Luke chapter 23. What would you have done in Jesus’ situation? How do His words challenge your own heart and attitude to forgiveness?
- Let His words “Father forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing” soak into those old hurts today. Offer them up to God and ask Him to transform your pain into something that will bring Him glory.

About this Plan

Here’s the truth: forgiving people who’ve hurt us isn’t an easy thing to do. And yet… we know that without forgiveness, we can easily fall into bitterness – and then the hurt will not go away, but grow. So how do you forgive and really mean it? Join Berni Dymet from Christianityworks, in a new video devotional series to ponder the importance – and power – of forgiveness.
