The One Behind The BookSample
God with us - Jesus shows the way
THE STORY SO FAR...
God’s people have continued in their disobedience and humanity is unable to make things right with God. The prophets speak of someone who is to come that will make all things right.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
We begin to move towards the incredible climax of the Bible. The New Testament — meaning the New Covenant — introduces us to the ‘anointed one’ (or Christ), who was promised in the Old Testament, the Saviour for the whole world, Jesus. Born into the family line of Abraham, Jesus fulfilled the promise God made to Abraham that all nations would be blessed through him. Jesus also fulfilled all the Old Testament prophecies made about the Christ.
Yet, Jesus is so much more than just the fulfilment of a promise. Jesus is the Son of God. He is God himself in flesh. He is the Creator of the universe. He is the friend of all who come to him in faith. He is the answer to the deepest desire of every human heart.
The Bible goes on to tell us that Jesus came from heaven to earth with a purpose. Not only did he fulfil the Old Testament prophecies, Jesus also lived a perfect, sin free life in obedience to God. Jesus also revealed who God the Father is. This means you can know what God is like by looking to Jesus. He came so you could personally know God for yourself by having a relationship with him.
During his time on earth, Jesus taught the people about God’s Kingdom. He performed incredible miracles to show that he is God. He calmed storms, walked on water, restored sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf, and completely healed those who came to him with all kinds of disease or illness. He even raised people from the dead!
All of these miracles, and the fulfilment of promises, were designed to point you towards the amazing truth that God loves you so much and wants you to come back to him. In light of this, we need to discover how sin would be taken care of once and for all, so that there would no longer need to be any separation between God and us. This brings us to the most amazing part of the Bible and the most important moment in all of history.
