FRUITFUL & FULFILLED An Abundant Life Self-AssessmentSample
4. A – Aspire to Move Forward
“One great paradox of the Christian life is that we are fully responsible for our Christian growth and at the same time fully dependent upon the Holy Spirit to give us both the desire to grow and the ability to do it. God’s grace does not negate the need for responsible action on our part, but rather makes it possible.” —Jerry Bridges
It's said that God loves us just as we are . . . but too much to let us stay that way. Aren’t you glad that He is always at work in us and that He is gracious enough to work through us?
With an eye on the prize of living a fruitful and fulfilled life in the Lord, let’s turn our attention to unpacking the P.L.A.N. acronym with an “A,” an encouragement to aspire to move forward.
Let God know you are ready and willing to move forward as He leads. Again, grab a pen and paper or journal and prayerfully process the following questions:
- What spiritual discipline(s) do you need to strengthen?
- What areas of your life need improvement?
- What new opportunities do you want to explore?
- What is the most important thing you will commit to?
- What do you want to add to your life this year?
- Who has God placed on your heart to disciple?
- What are the “big rocks” in your schedule that cannot be changed?
- What do you need to refresh and renew (or refuel) you?
- What is something that you want to intentionally plan for?
- Whom do you need to make special time for?
- Whom do you need to consult with before putting things on your schedule?
- What resources do you need?
About this Plan
Jesus came that we might have "life to the full," and He warned that an enemy aims to rob us of it (John 10:10). Thus, from our experience, we must be intentional in this pursuit of abundant life. This assessment will help you to do just that by developing a personal P.L.A.N., an acronym we use to help you be fruitful and fulfilled in life and ministry. Enjoy the journey!
