Let Hope Rise

DAY 3 OF 5

Our Source of Hope

Tucked away in the Centennial Mountains of southwest Montana lies the source of the longest river in North America and fourth longest in the world at 3,902 miles. Brower’s Spring, named after Jacob V. Brower who made the discovery in 1896, begins a water flow into various rivers and reservoirs that eventually make their way into the mighty Mississippi-Missouri River system.

Native Americans depended upon these waters for sustenance and transportation for thousands of years. The Missouri River was one of the main routes for westward expansion during the 19th century and continues to impact millions of Americans living within its watershed.

All this from a small spring that sits at 9,100 feet on the slopes of Mount Jefferson on the Continental Divide.

Paul writes in Romans 15:13,

“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”

God is the Source of a hope that never runs dry and continually fills His children. And that same hope overflows our own ‘riverbanks’ in order to help provide refreshment to others we encounter through the power of the Holy Spirit.

We like to say, “God is our Source, everything else is simply a resource.” All of the finances and material possessions we have access to are resources that originate from God the Source.

When you feel doubt and fear begin to creep in, return to the limitless Source of all hope and comfort.

Prayer…

“Father, we acknowledge You as our Source of hope. Thank you for the promise that we can be completely filled with joy and peace as a result of trusting in You. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for giving us an overflow of confident hope. We place no confidence in the emptiness of our flesh or the false peace of the world. You are our Source and everything else is simply a resource. We run into the halls of heaven to draw close to You Abba (Daddy). It's in Jesus' name we pray, Amen.”
