Daily Guideposts 2016: 14-Day Reading PlanSample
I’m a great one for making lists. Every Monday morning I glance over my schedule for the week and set five goals for myself. They generally involve my work, exercise, a knitting project, and reading. Seeing that they were so often the same each week, I thought to mix things up and add something different.
I decided I’d do something special for my husband every day just to show him how much I love and appreciate him. Monday, I took the garbage all the way to the end of the driveway. Did Wayne notice? No.
Tuesday, I cooked his favorite dinner. No comment. And so it went day after day.
On Friday I got bad news. I’d booked a trip with one of my friends. Her husband had decided to join her, which meant I would end up being a third wheel. It seemed the only thing to do was cancel. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I told Wayne why I wouldn’t be going and, without a pause, he looked up from the newspaper and said, “I’ll go with you.”
I was stunned. All week I’d assumed my extra effort to show him I loved him had gone unnoticed. Then, with four simple words, he let me know how much he treasured me.
Thank You, Lord, for my dear husband who teaches me what it means to love and be loved.
