Jesus Who Reigns Is Worthy Of Worship

DAY 3 OF 10

WHO IS JESUS?

The very name “Jesus” in Hebrew means “God Saves” which revealed his identity and salvific mission (Matthew 1:21). Truly, only God can forgive and save man from sin which was the highlight of the greatest love story ever told throughout the Bible. If then Jesus was only human, how can he save humanity from sin where the wages of sin is death? It was only through Jesus’ death and resurrection that sin was conquered and man was redeemed. Because of this, “there is no other name by which we must be saved (Act 4:12).

In his letter to Philippians, Paul said that God bestowed on Jesus the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:9-11). Paul was confirming that Jesus is truly God when he exhorted to worship Jesus and proclaimed his Lordship. And by confessing Jesus Christ as “Lord’, Paul further solidify Jesus’ Divinity because in the Greek translation of the Old Testament Yahweh is “Kyrios” which means “Lord” denoting the Divinity of the God of Israel.
“This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?” “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them (John 6:60, 65).” Hence, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you (James 1:5)”.

About this Plan

Jesus Who Reigns Is Worthy Of Worship

Worship is defined as the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity. If this is the definition of worship, then Jesus is the only one who deserves worship, no one else and nothing else. Worship is not just the songs we sing at church or the raising of our hands but worship as defined by the Bible is giving our lives as living sacrifice to God who is the object, the reason and the meaning of our worship.
