Acts 9:6, 11, 15, 34, 40

6 Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

11 The Lord said, “Go over to Straight Street, to the house of Judas. When you get there, ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul. He is praying to me right now.

15 But the Lord said, “Go, for Saul is my chosen instrument to take my message to the Gentiles and to kings, as well as to the people of Israel.

34 Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you! Get up, and roll up your sleeping mat!” And he was healed instantly.

40 But Peter asked them all to leave the room; then he knelt and prayed. Turning to the body he said, “Get up, Tabitha.” And she opened her eyes! When she saw Peter, she sat up!

What an amazing chapter packed full of miracle moments! Saul’s conversion, Ananias’s boldness, Aeneas’s healing, and Tabitha’s resurrection. And the thread that ties them all together is the command to GET UP and GO. 

The Lord rebukes Saul and commands him in his blindness to get up and go to Damascus and wait.

The Lord challenges Ananias to go to Judas’ house and lay hands on Saul and pray for him.

Peter meets a man in Lydda and tells him to get up and receive his healing.

And finally, Peter makes a stop at Joppa to proclaims Tabitha to get up from the dead.

It amazes me how one conversation can change your direction. Saul was headed to Damascus to persecute believers, but by the time he arrives, he is preaching the Gospel with boldness. Now Jews are trying to kill him, and believers have trouble believing him! Ananias was just going about his day, and the Lord interrupted him for a mission. Despite his concerns and fear, he was obedient to answer God’s call. 

What power lies in the phrase “Get Up and Go.” It’s time to move. Each person in this chapter was living one way, and after such a command, their forever was changed.
