Kong Hee: God's Favor

DAY 1 OF 5

The Key To Receiving God's Favor

In 1 Corinthians 1:26, the apostle Paul talks about three different kinds of people: “For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called.” According to Paul, these are the three kinds of people who find it hard to receive God’s favor.

First of all, there are the wise… those who are the highly educated. Secondly, the mighty are those who are naturally talented. And the third category are the noble... those who come from a privileged background. Now let me tell you that there is nothing at all wrong with any of these three social statuses. But one downfall that is common among the three is that these statuses often cause a higher dependence on “self” and, as a result, an independence from God. And when we lose sight of our need for God in our lives, we shut the door from receiving His grace and favor.

The amount of God’s favor we experience in our lives is not determined by our family background, our level of academic excellence or our talents and abilities. The Bible tells us that He is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). In fact, we’re told in 1 Corinthians 1:27 that “God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise.”

So, if you desire to live a life filled with God’s presence and power, don’t ever lose sight of your reliance on Him. Instead, surrender fully to His perfect will and place all your trust in Him, knowing that He gives favor to His children and will work everything out for your best!

Prayer for the day:

Pray that you will grow toward complete dependence on Jesus and allow His strength and favor to be made perfect in your surrender.
Day 2

About this Plan

Kong Hee: God's Favor

The key to greatness in Christ is to have total reliance on Him. As you surrender fully to His perfect will to serve His purpose and His people, God will bestow favor upon your life. As Christians, our highest aspiration should be to follow Jesus’ example of being a servant to all, carrying the attitude of humility. At the same time, the Bible is clear that our calling is to "obey God rather than men" (Acts 5:29). So when it comes to man, have an attitude of humility; but when it comes to God, let your attitude be one of total obedience!
