What Trees Can Teach Us About God and His KingdomSample

Trees are created by God
The first time trees are mentioned, is in the creation account. Trees, like other plants, animals and humans, are purposefully created by God. They did not develop spontaneously over millions of years, but were created when God spoke them into being. And God created not just ‘a tree’ in general, but He created beauty and variety, “each according to its kind”.
Knowing this is important. God has created this earth and all it contains. Therefore, He deserves our praise for all the wonderful things He has made. We may receive them as gifts of God. Moreover, knowing that God is ‘behind’ everything, and not a random force, changes our world view and our perspective on the future. All of creation is God’s work, and He won’t forsake “the work of his hands”. The earth, the universe, we humans — they are not the product of coincidence, but were carefully planned and made.
Keep this Bible verse in mind when you look out of your window or walk down the street. Let the trees remind you of God your Creator, who created beauty and diversity — just by speaking. How great is our God!

About this Plan

When we try to find the central theme of the Bible, we might not immediately think of ‘trees’. But when we take a closer look, trees are mentioned quite often! Not as main characters or major topics, but they are frequently used as metaphors or symbolic representations of important truths. In this Reading Plan, we will read some Bible texts about trees, and see what we can learn from them.
