12 Days of Healthy ChristmasSample
“Our Comfort"
Yes, today is day one of our 12 Healthy Christmas Days and our goal through these 12 days is to celebrate the Christmas season and to do so with healthy habits. Let’s get through the holidays without gaining weight, getting depressed, and feeling overwhelmed. Let’s start the New Year having not gained weight from indulging through the whole Christmas season. Let’s realize that Jesus came to bring life and that is what Christmas is all about.
For us today, the Christmas season is related to the coming of Christ, but the coming we are addressing (while including the first coming at Bethlehem) also focuses on the coming of Christ in His glory. We look back upon Christ’s Bethlehem birth in celebration and look forward in eager anticipation to the coming of Christ’s Kingdom when he returns.
Our passage today is a passage that is marked by the word “comfort” twice in the first verse. Christmas is a season that brings comfort. The comfort of knowing that Jesus would come and did come to Bethlehem, and that he will return again to usher in the new age. But it is not only the past and the future that brings comfort, but in the present Jesus comes today and brings comfort to those broken and suffering. For those of us who have been bruised, battered, and unhealthy, Jesus comes. He came and burst into my existence initially as a child, but then at the age of 48, He burst into my existence, brought healing to my heart, and transformed my life. He put my feet on a journey to health, spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
Jesus came first to Bethlehem; He will come again in the last days but He also comes to us today. Invite Him into your existence. The healthy life starts at the feet of Jesus and it can start today.
Health Tip: Comfort does not equal food.
