God chose the weak. This passage drives us to humility by reminding us that when we were called, we were foolish, weak, lowly and despised. Pride flees! Thankfully, the gospel is transformative, but our sinfulness will be with us until Heaven. It’s no wonder that we irritate each other from time to time! So how do we honour God in our weakness? By being authentic. Scrap the carefully constructed, insta-worthy image and be real with your friends, both Christian and non-Christian. Will they see that you are weak, call you a hypocrite? They might, and that’s okay. It gives us the chance to point to Jesus and say, “I am weak, but he is strong”. 

What parts of your character can you see God has changed over your Christian life?

Prayer: God, thank you that you met me in my broken, sinful state and stooped to be with me. Help me to honour you by owning my weakness and sharing my burdens with others. Amen.
