Love God Greatly: Know Love: A Study on 1, 2, 3 JohnSample

In 1 John 5:11-12 we find a very clear statement of how eternal life is found. John does not sugar coat it but states that life is found in the Son of God and whoever believes in the Son receives this life. There is no other avenue to eternal life. Those who reject this testimony call God a liar (1 John 5:10). The message of salvation was so important to John that he was very direct in his letter. He didn’t want his readers to be confused: Believe in Jesus and you will be saved, you will find life. It’s not a little bit of life, but life to the fullest. We can’t even imagine what that will look like.
Thankfully, we begin to experience the fullness of life here on earth. Jesus changing us into His image, giving us peace in hard situations, helping us love those who are hard to love, and allowing us to extend forgiveness show the work of Jesus in our lives.
Lord, I thank You that my salvation does not depend on how good I am but on how good You are. Thank You for sending Your Son to die on my behalf, and thank You for giving me the gift of faith so I can have life. Amen.

About this Plan

The Apostle John had one clear message in his letters: Love one another. In the letters of 1, 2, and 3 John, the beloved disciple encouraged followers of Christ to love God by following His commands, and to love and honor fellow believers. John’s message is incredibly relevant to us today, offering insight to us as we seek to live like Jesus lived and love like Jesus loved.
