Trusting God in a Financial Crisis Sample
Day 2—God cares about our money problems.
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. — 1 Peter 5:6–7 (ESV)
Loss is painful. Money mistakes are real. And when we’re confused and scared, it’s a natural instinct to point a finger at God. Where are you? Why don’t you do something?
Hold up, people! When these thoughts start to creep in, we need an attitude adjustment. You see, if we want to understand God’s character, we have to get to know Him through His Word. And as you read Scripture, you’ll quickly realize that God cares deeply about us and our problems. He consistently commands us to bring our troubles to Him, like you saw in 1 Peter 5:6–7. If you’re weighed down and weary, Jesus invites you to spend time with Him and rest (Matthew 11:28–30). If you need wisdom on how to move forward, God promises to share His perfect wisdom with you (James 1:5).
And as it turns out, God cares a lot about money. He talks about it all the time! Many of Jesus’ parables deal with money. And there are more than 2,000 verses throughout Scripture on tithing, money and possessions in the Bible—which is twice as many as faith and prayer combined!
When you’re facing money problems, God’s not far away, kicking His feet up on some heavenly footstool, shaking His head, and hoping that it works out for us. He knows every detail of your situation, and He has a plan for your good (Jeremiah 29:11).
Let’s dig deeper with a few reflection questions:
· Do you truly believe that God cares about your situation? Why or why not?
· If you trusted that God was listening to you, what money problems would you bring to Him?
Scripture is full of practical solutions for the problems we face in everyday life. If you want to learn God’s ways of handling money, check out Ramsey+. It’s a money plan for real life based on biblical principles.
