In My Boat: Trusting God in the Midst of the Storm

DAY 3 OF 14

  He Cares For You

Alone, adrift, afraid?

I will be with you to the very end of age.

Lonely, depressed, sad?

I will be with you to the very end of age.

Lost a job, lost a child, lost some money?

I will be with you to the very end of age.

This is a recurring, unfailing message from Father God to us that when we feel like we are down and out, He is right there with us. When the disciples were troubled in a storm, the Bible records that Jesus went out to them walking on the lake, and calmed the storm.

You may be going through a storm, but Jesus is saying He is with you now and will be until the very end of time. The disciples experienced the love of Jesus first hand. When they were stuck and without a way out, He came through for them because He cared. It is, therefore, no surprise that Peter said, 'Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7 NIV)

For that we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. (Hebrews 4:15 NIV)

Jesus can identify with your storm because while He was on earth He felt everything you are going through. He dealt with the loss of a loved one. As a child, He was most likely misunderstood on account of being different. As the Messiah, He was rejected, stoned, spat on, jailed, and eventually killed.

But just the way Jesus appeared in the nick of time to save His disciples when they were in a storm (Matthew 14:24 – 25), He continues to do the same thing for all of us. When He let himself be nailed to the cross for you and me, He was showing up in the grandest way possible. He was saying, “I am taking all of that pain, shame, rejection, sickness, depression, pain, sin. I am taking all of it and I am nailing it to the cross because I love you.”

Prayer

Dear Jesus,

Thank You for caring for me. I acknowledge the sacrifice You made for me on the cross, and how much that is a statement of Your undying love for me. I know You care for me and that You care enough to take care of this storm that I am going through. Thank You, Lord Jesus.

Amen.
