Yes, You Have Spiritual Gifts

DAY 4 OF 4

Gifted for God’s Glory

You are gifted for glory. The word glory means that someone or something makes you gasp, “Wow!” A sunrise, a newborn baby, or the love of Jesus might spark an instinctive “Wow!” within you. That’s glory.

According to the apostle Peter, you are gifted for glory. The goal of your skills and talents is to make other people think of God and say, “Wow!” “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others . . . so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 4:10,11). Notice the phrase, “in all things.” Whatever your gift, the purpose is the praise of our Lord.

Because when you use your gift, people get a glimpse of God. When your smile, energy, and warm welcome make a guest in your church feel at home, you are a glimpse of the kindness of God. When your words encourage, teach, and keep your kids on the right track, you are a glimpse of God’s fatherly wisdom. When you work hard, finish the project, and refuse to give up despite the obstacles, you are a glimpse of the Savior who fixed his eyes on the cross and didn’t quit until he cried, “It is finished!”

Ponder how your gifts might give others a little glimpse of the wow-ness of our God. While you’re meditating, think about the people in your life who are using their gifts to help you remember how glorious our Savior actually is.

Because God’s glory is the goal of every gift.
