Real Hope: Seeking God's PurposeSample

Just Like You and Me
Early on in my Christian life, I thought the people in the Bible were placed there to be our role models, examples of how we are to live if we really want to honor God. I would vaguely remember stories at Sunday School of some of the biblical heroes—like Abraham, our father of faith; and Moses, who led the Israelites out of Egypt; and Queen Esther; and then there’s David, and how he slayed the giant Goliath.
But it wasn’t until I actually turned my heart towards God and began to read the Bible for myself that these people and their life stories took on a whole new meaning. They weren’t light and fluffy—they were hard core! Their lives were filled with highs and lows and victories and failures. I saw that the Bible was full of imperfect, regular people like you and me, and it made me love the Bible more. God wrote an entire book about people who needed saving just as much as we do.
Before the foundation of the earth, God chose them to fulfil a specific purpose. Before the creation of the universe, God thought of you. He fixed His gaze on you and chose you for Himself. Everything you are and all you hope to be is rooted in God freely choosing you.
A biblical hero is someone in the Bible who lived their life with faith. They are ordinary people who were chosen by God. There is a hero inside of you!

About this Plan

The word "purpose" means the reason something is done or created or exists. For Christians, we know our purpose is to glorify God—but how? Our prayer with this plan is that you would start to delve deeper into the purpose that God has called you to.
