God’s Delight

Take a moment and imagine our Father leaning back in his throne and surveying the vast beauty of all he created. The waters abundant with life lapping at the shores. The creatures spreading out upon the earth, running and playing for the first time. Wind partnering with the trees, making the leaves dance under glimmering stars. Perfectly green grass and fragrant flowers untainted by pollution. Imagine the sounds filling the atmosphere. Sounds of life never heard before. And then there we were—the ones who would contain the uncontainable One. What did the angels do to celebrate the birth of creation? What must it have been like to see it all unfold?

The story of creation doesn’t end with God feeling disappointed or dissatisfied. From the beginning, we (the entirety of creation) pleased him greatly. Before we could possibly do anything to please him, he loved us. We are his delight.

PRAYER

Father, thinking about the wonder of creation leaves me awestruck. How glorious and brilliant you are! Thank you for blessing me with such beautiful things. No one could ever gift me with planets, oceans, and life itself. You are the epitome of perfection, yet you look at me and call me beautiful.
