Miracle of Love: A 5-Day Devotional With Chris TomlinSample
Day 5: Miracle of Love
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 (NLT)
Children are gifts from God. Psalm 127:3 (NKJV) even says, “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.”
If you’re a dad or a mom, you know exactly what this verse is talking about. The love I have for my girls is unlike any other, and sometimes I think I didn’t truly know what unconditional love really felt like until I became a father. While I’m pretty sure my girls hung the moon, there’s one baby who surpasses them all—Jesus. He is the greatest gift we will ever receive.
You don’t have to become a parent to experience such an extraordinary miracle of love. Maybe you’ve never accepted the free gift of God’s love. It all began with a baby in a manger, but it ended with a man on a cross. A man who willingly gave His life so that you and I could live forever with Him in Heaven.
John 15:13 (NLT) says, “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
If that isn’t a miracle, I don’t know what is. A Father willing to give up His Son. A Son willing to give up His life.
Yet, the greatest miracle of all arrived three days after His death on the cross. An empty tomb signified that God was still writing our redemption story on His own terms, in His own way. He is the author of the greatest story in all of history. It’s a story written for you.
If you’ve never received God’s gift of love, Christmas is a great time for a miracle.
If you’re in need of rescue, comfort, or peace during this season, you can find everything you’ll ever need in the person of Jesus Christ.
His life, His death, and the way He came to us was indeed a miracle of love. But the greatest miracle of all is that He chooses to make our hearts His home.
Behold the Son of man / Here in a manger lay / Worthy is the lamb / For He has come to save —“All The World Awaits (Hosanna)”
