DAY 2 OF 3

HABAKKUK AND THE VISION FROM THE LORD

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)

Habakkuk received a vision and promise from the Lord and was asked by the Lord to write it down and keep it for a later time. God is faithful. He will certainly keep His promises. Habakkuk's job was to keep God's message and believe that God would fulfill it.

We might have personally received messages from the Lord, His promises, or a special message in the form of prophecy that was delivered by a servant of God. An example of this is when the prophet Samuel came to pray and anoint David to be the king of Israel. Did Samuel’s word happen immediately? No. David went through a long and arduous process before God’s word came to pass and David became the king of Israel.

Sometimes God gives us time to anticipate God’s vision or promise. It is just like a mother who carries her baby for nine months. The happy day comes when she delivers the baby. Isn't that a great day? Surely every mother prepares everything, including her mind, before giving birth. It is the same with us who receive God’s message. We believe and prepare ourselves to wait for His promise.

What did Mary do when she received the message from God’s angel? As a servant of God, Mary believed it and kept it in her heart. This is what we have to do, too. We need to keep God's message in our hearts and wait for Him. If Habakkuk took notes and kept them, perhaps we could also do the same by writing in our special book. Let it be our secret with God. It’s not necessary for us to tell many people. Tell others about it only when the time has come and God has confirmed it so that we can glorify the name of the Lord.

God never fails to fulfill His promise; just believe and wait for it.
