Guided by God in 2021 and AlwaysSample
SEEK GOD'S DIVINE DIRECTION
The actor and comedian Woody Allen once said, "If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans." As we usher in the New Year, we often make plans to change something in our lives, firmly resolving to do something differently. However, our plans often fall short or fail because we don't follow the guidelines and directions and ultimately revert to our old ways and habits. After all, life is complicated.
We all need guidance and directions to follow because our world is a complex place. So, where do we seek advice? Many people are lucky to have Christian parents, family members, school counselors, or coaches to guide them. In contrast, others are less fortunate, having no one to give them counsel and direction, no less Christian-based guidance.
Many young adolescents view social media influencers and reality TV shows as their guides for living. Others turn to psychics or earthly spiritual guides. That didn't bode well for King Saul, who consulted a medium for advice instead of seeking the Lord's guidance. He died. It's humanity's nature to think that we direct our steps and hold our destiny in our own hands. We believe that all we have to do is plan our lives carefully, and it will be abundant and profitable. But it's God's nature to instruct and teach you willingly and to guide and counsel you with His loving eye on you.
Are you seeking God's divine direction in all that you do, even in your New Years' resolutions and plans? God has complete knowledge of your circumstances and longs to instruct and teach you whatever situation you face, and His wisdom and guidance are always available. He never makes a mistake when guiding your steps. "The heart of a man plans his way, but the Lord establishes His steps." (Proverbs 16:9) Do you know someone who's steps need to be guided by God? Be willing to mentor them with biblically-based counsel, using the Bible as your guide. Trust in the Lord, and He will make your path straight and give you divine direction along the way.
