#Goals - Part 2 - SE StudentsSample
Friendship can be a long and winding road, with lots of twists and turns, ups and downs, and curves you didn’t expect. Sometimes friendships end for good reasons or simply because they were only meant to be for a certain season in your life. But there are times when friendships end because of pain or hurt that goes without an apology or without forgiveness. When this happens, we tend to carry bitterness in our hearts toward the other person, which is the opposite of what Jesus asks of us.
God’s heart is for our relationships to be redeemed, but even if the friendship is not restored, we still must offer forgiveness in our hearts. When we don’t, it is like drinking poison and hoping it kills the other person. Jesus tells us to forgive, again and again, even if the person continues to do harm. It may not mean we need to continue to be best friends with that person, but in our own hearts we must forgive as He has forgiven us. When we forgive as Jesus forgave us, we are loving our friends and enemies like Jesus loved.
