Divorce To Healing: 31 Days Of Healing And WholenessSample

"Forgiveness"
“Really? really…?…?.. This is the last thing you are thinking about. That ________ doesn’t deserve one more moment or thought. They can go to heck for all you care. Well, maybe not……”
There comes a time when things have gone wrong. Depending on where you are at in your healing process, you may or may not be ready to forgive. That is absolutely ok!!
Forgiveness is a singular, personal issue between you and God. The only part the other person plays in all of this is that they were the cause of it, yet they have nothing to do with you forgiving them.
Forgiveness is a choice, just like love. It is not a feeling. Only you can choose to forgive, for the health of yourself and for your relationship with God.
Not forgiving is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.
Forgiving someone for the wrongs and the pain they have caused you, does not mean what they did was ok. It doesn’t mean that it doesn’t matter or that things will get better. It doesn’t mean forgiveness is deserved or due.
Forgiving does not mean you forget. We are not God, we are human.
For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions. Matthew 6:14-15
Choosing to forgive is like giving God permission to remove the bandage of offense from your heart, so that he can clean and start healing the wound.
Prayer
God, today I choose to forgive (_______) for (_______). I lay it at the foot of the cross and ask you to heal every part of me that is wounded, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
