Fight for Their HeartsSample

M46 Dads Challenge Four
Dad, are you clearly communicating the transformational gospel to your kids? Or are you giving them a dead, transactional religion that will eventually leave them disillusioned with Him? You can give your kids only what you yourself have. So it’s very important that your own spiritual life is thriving.
Speaking age-appropriately, talk to your kids about baggage in your own life that has made things difficult for you to live out the truth of the gospel. Summarize in your own words what you have learned in this chapter. Teaching your children scriptural truths will also help reinforce them in your own life.
Talk to your kids about how the Bible teaches we are holy, perfect, and blameless in Christ even though we still struggle with sinful thoughts and behaviors. Make sure they understand that their own journeys of sanctification are about progress, not perfection.
Here is Jesus’ prayer before He went to the cross. Imagine that He was talking about your own family, because He was (read John 17:20–26).
